Winter semester ended not too long ago; spring semester began not too long ago. And already, I'm missing my winter acting class. Yes, that's right! The drama addict in me jumped at the chance to register for a winter acting class. And it was the best choice I've ever made in my life! We did quite a few mini projects to help us become risk takers. One of which was to hop on a train and yell "Yes" with a strong, positive energy. The thought of doing that freaked me out at first but eventually I got over that anxiety and did it. People stared and then went back to doing whatever they were doing. Very fun experience.

Acting class is just too awesome to describe with just plain words, you just gotta experience it yourself! So if you ever have a chance to take an acting class in college or in high school or anywhere, go for it! Just go for it! Acting class is the best class I ever took in my entire education.

2011 was the year for Yang Mi. From the most influential drama of the year to the highest grossing horror film in Chinese history all the way to a musical debut, the actress finally reached a top after 20 years in the industry (she’s only 25). To top it all off, Yang Mi admitted today that she was dating actor Hawick Lau. The story has resulted in more than16 million weibo’s after less than two hours.

According to Yang Mi, the two became good friends during the filming of upcoming drama Ruyi. She then introduced him to her company, and he ended his long independent actor status. Hawick Lau recently called Yang Mi in a surprise phone call on Happy Camp, and the two filmed a MV together for Yang Mi’s new album.

In an interview published today to Southern Metro Weekly, Yang Mi said that previously, she always thought she was too busy for a relationship ( I don’t know how she has room for anything else given her workaholic attitudes), but found new confidence in Hawick Lau.

“To be honest I’ve thought about dating, but never really wanted to date because I felt like dating is a waste of time. I’m too busy with work and has been afraid I won’t have time to face a relationship, but you can find confidence and security on this person. It’s really hard for me to trust someone, and he can make me trust him,” said Yang Mi. “This circle is very fast-paced and superficial, and many, including me, have gotten bad habits. But when I’m working with him, I’ll reflect on myself. I’ve never met someone who could make me do that. ”

The publishing of the interview was followed by a weibo announcement by Hawick Lau a few minutes ago.

I was watching a trailer yesterday and happened to chance upon this sad little song. This sad song beautifully draws out the sadness. Or maybe I just like the sadness of the tune. This little tune here is perfect for those dying scenes in ancient or pre-modern era. I noticed that in mainland dramas (Four Women Conflict, Chinese Paladin) when the heroine dies in the finale, she'll often slowly die in a garden of cherry blossoms. The main guy would carry his dying girl slowly through this cherry blossom garden and as he walks the cherry blossoms gently fall around them. So surreal. Yeah...this little tune would be perfect for those drama moments.

InTime With You has…it has…surpassed Autumn’s Concerto. The camera movement, thedirecting, the acting, and the storyline are all absolutely stunning. It’struly a well-crafted piece of artwork that goes above and beyond.(But I still love Autumn's Concerto, just that, I now also love In Time With You)

InTime With You is a special drama that deserves its own special category. It isin no way, shape, or form an idol drama. If this was an idol drama, Ding Li Weiwould be the male lead, and Li Da Ren would be the second male lead. Thankgoodness, this is not an idol drama. Also, Ariel is an actress, not an idol. AndWilson Chen is an actor, not an idol. Put this actress and this actor together,and you’ve got Cheng You Qing and Li Da Ren. They’re best friends and nothingmore than best friends, but in their hearts, they yearn to be more than justbest friends. But this drama is more than just being about platonicfriendships. It’s also a drama dedicated to the second male leads who are oftenthrown to the side like spaghetti. This is Li Da Ren’s, Hua Tuo Ye’s(Autumn’sConcerto), Dylan’s (Fated to Love You), and all second male leads’ story. Thisdrama is their voice. Thank you, director, for making them the lead after somany years. Thank you.

Didyou notice that there were three pairs of platonic friends, three pairs ofCheng You Qings and Li Da Rens. The first pair is Da Ren’s mom and Uncle Bai.They got married. My favorite scene inthe last episode was Da Ren’s lame proposal and his lame diamond ring!HAHAHAHAHA! The Geometry Behind Serendipitous Meetings

In dramas, we often encounter scenes where one half is looking for the other half. And usually, three things happen. Either they find each other across the street, they find each other on the other end of a bridge, or they don't find each other at all.

Finding each other across the street adds an element of surprise and defies the laws of nature. The first time you see it, it's like "Wow, that won't happen in real life". The second time, it's =/. The third time, it becomes a clique. It defies the laws of nature (or mathematics). Since when do points on parallel lines ever meet? The answer is never.

Imagine that the streets were parallel lines and people on the streets are points on the lines. Then the most that point a on Line A and point b on Line B can do, is wave at each other, because parallel lines will never intersect. So geometrically, finding each other across the street and then running towards each other is impossible.

Finding each other across a bridge is very romantic, especially in Asian cultures, where bridges are connected to the story of the cow herder and silk weaver. Meeting across a bridge sends a very powerful message about the two people's relationship. Again, three things can happen. First, when both parties' backs are turned towards the direction they came from, then they are meeting each other at the center like the cow herder and the silk weaver.

Second, if both parties' backs are turned towards the same direction, then one party is leaving while the other is looking on with tears in thy tears or they are walking together hand in hand. If both parties' backs are opposite each other, then they have separated and are walking their own paths.

Geometrically speaking, the direction matters the most here since they are both on the same line. If they're going in opposite directions, they're done. One is going to go to negative infinity, the other to positive infinity.

Also, it doesn't matter which direction either point travels, they will always meet because they are on a circle.

You must must watch In Love With You. It's a cleverly directed drama that has extremely insightful views on love and friendship.

Office Girls Episode 2 Summary

Office Girls is a very typical idol drama. It screams idol drama in every sense and scene. Exaggerated actions and expressions, rich guy and poor girl, male lead is the silly one, male second lead is the talented one, female lead is gullible, female second lead is pretty and evil, topped off with the wacky suporting actors. It uses the same old formula but yet it's so darn addicting. And that has to do with the chemistry among the cast, the acting skills of the actors, and the tiny quirks that they inject into their characters.

Roy's acting has improved by leaps and bounds. There's something very special about him that makes me focus all my attention on him whenever he comes on the screen. Another scene stealer is Patrick Li, the very wacky manager who likes to play with dinosaurs. He's so over with his expressions and actions. He's hilarious! Put the two scene stealers together, and it's a battle of the wits.

Recapping Office Girls is turning out to be quite difficult. Most of the laughing points are with the actors' expressions and actions. Recapping it totally can not express the silliness in their expression and actions. For Office Girls, it's actually better to watch it than read it. But I'm not giving up, kekeke. Here goes episode 2:

Alpha male flexes his muscles and speaks all English. "Double Expresso...and ice cream..Blueberry, thanks". Xing Ren is totally not impress and shoots him a stare. I, too, would killer stare anyone who tries to interrupt my conversation with my idol~

Xing Ren uses this perfect opportunity to sell her idol a propasal to bring his clothing line to the mall. And she gets rejected. Zi Qi shall be patient no more and criticizes Cheng Feng for not even looking at the proposal. That earns him another death glare and the exit. Aww, he doesn't even get to drink his Espresso or eat his Blueberry Ice Cream.

While waiting outside for his partner, Dad drives up to see how his son is faring. His son is doing very well: he has a roof over his head, a window to get fresh air, and a toilet to perform excretion. He's fine, he claims. Zi Qi gets out of the car just as Xing Ren leaves the coffee house. She recognizes the car as the Director's car.

Uh Oh, Zi Qi's cover is blown...or maybe not. She makes the connection that Zi Qi might be related to the Director, since they both have the same surname. Zi Qi comes out clean and tells her that he's the Director's son. She immediately slaps his chest for trying to deceive her because everyone knows that the Director's son got into a car accident last year in American and became a vegetable. Everyone, except Zi Qi. Dot Dot Dot. Why would any parent curse their child like that...

Zi Qi walks off in disbelief while Xing Ren looks on thinking that he's being overly emotional.

Back at the office, Manager She Te Long, or Stallone, strokes his toy dinosaur in anticipation of good news from Xing Ren. The higher you soar, the faster you fall. Once Xing Ren steps into the office, Manager She Te Long starts sucking up to her until Zi Qi breaks the news that Yu Cheng Feng refused the offer. And she receives a huge scolding.

Back at their opposing desks, Zi Qi annoys her by playing with a toy Bullseye and that results in her throwing a paper tower at him, missing by an inch. "You missed". She then picks up a cactus plant and he immediately apologizes. Ha Ha Ha.

Zi Qi gets off work first and goes home. There's a girl sitting on the steps and she's here to deliver a box to his neighbors upstairs, but they are not home. The girl guilt trips Zi Qi into taking the package for them and paying for it too. Evening comes, and Zi Qi goes upstairs to hand over the package and get his money. Both parties are surprised to learn they are neighbors. Le Le opens the box to examine its content, only to find empty glass bottles. They got scammed. And...they don't give Zi Qi back his money. It really wasn't his fault...poor guy.

He's officially broke. But he does have enough to afford a rice ball at the local 7-11. It's his first time eating a rice ball from a plastic wrapping. He calls his friend to borrow some money, but he don't have any extra money to spare. Great friend, eh.

Feeling bad for ripping the guy off, Xing Ren invites Zi Qi to have dinner with them. Except it's not free. Hahaha. She's charging him $50 NTD per meal. Over so called dinner, they discuss how they could appeal to Yu Cheng Feng since he's not after the money. While discussing, broccoli war ensures. Zi Qi who harbors a dislike for broccoli, merely passes the broccoli onto Xing Ren's plate while talking. Xing Ren returns the favor and returns his brunch of broccoli. Hahaha, these two...

The next day, Le Le tags along with them to go meet Yu Cheng Feng. Of course, Le Le's only purpose of being there is to meet the designer's dashing assistant, Michael. It turns out Yu Cheng Feng is not in his office today. He calls Michael to meet him at another address. Michael writes it down on a post it and then leaves. Le Le is in la la land.

Zi Qi must a lot of cop shows because he takes the next post it and uses an eyeliner pencil to reveal Yu Cheng Feng's location. BINGO! Zi Qi goes to meet Yu Cheng Feng while Xing Ren rushes home to grab something.

Zi Qi meets Yu Cheng Feng at a shooting range. Xing Ren still hasn't arrive yet so Zi Qi tries to stall Cheng Feng by challenging him to a match. But the designer declines, "I don't like meaningless competition". He just said Zi Qi is not worth his time! *gasp*

Xing Ren finally arrives just as Cheng Feng speeds out towards the exit. She takes a white dress that she bought from Cheng Feng years ago for her graduation. She kept to this day, and she hopes that by using this dress, Cheng Feng would change his mind and put his clothing line at the mall so that more people can buy it and wear his brand. Very nice try, but the answer is still no.

Back at the office, Xing Ren and Zi Qi gets scolded by Manager Stallone again. Zi Qi goes out to check the floors. He's in the lingerie store when he stumbles into a mannequin and break her arm. Cheng Kai Er, his crush, amuses at the sight and walks over. Zi Qi quickly explains that he was just adjusting the mannequin's angle to best attract customer eyesight or something like that.

Kai Er invites him out to dinner. She's paying because he's got no moolah. Kai Er's purpose for this dinner is to test her suspicions about Zi Qi's background. She's already suspecting that he is the Director's son. If that's the case, she has landed herself a big fish. Luck is on her side because Zi Qi has shown been showering her with interest.

Meanwhile, Xing Ren is wondering why Zi Qi still hasn't come up for dinner yet. She goes down to his apartment leaves a sticky note on his door.

A drunk Zi Qi comes home and sees the post it. He makes it up to the top and stumbles into Xing Ren's apartment. He calls for her but no one answers. He cannonballs himself onto the sofa and then decides he wants to take a shower.

Xing Ren is in the showers singing Wu Ding, or Roof Top. Zi Qi is also in the bathroom, stripped naked, dueting Wu Ding with her. At first, neither realizes that the other is in the bathroom until a moment later.

They both see each other butt naked....well, that's a first for a shower scene. It used to be only one person was naked, now it's both. Hahahahahaha!

Xing Ren fights for the shower curtain and loses. She screams and runs out. Zi Qi is dazed and stays on the floor, covering himself with the shower curtain. Le Le comes home and screams when she sees Zi Qi sitting on her bathroom floor. She takes a peek. HA HA HA~

After Zi Qi gets dressed, Xing Ren kicks him out of her apartment, warning him not to say anything about the embarrassing bathroom incident. He retorts that she got the better deal in the end. Oh, cheeky!

That piques Le Le's interest. She starts pestering Xing Ren, "So what did you see". "Nothing!" "Oh" Hahaha, look at her reaction!

The next day at the office, an awkward air flows between Zi Qi and Xing Ren's desk. Suddenly, the phone rings and Xing Ren receives the news that Yu Cheng Feng is on his way over to the mall.

Office Girls Episode 1 Summary

I promise I'll finish my Autumn's Concerto episode summaries one day. But here is my newest addiction. Office Girls, starring Roy Qiu and Alice Ke! Roy, Roy, Roy~ boy oh boy. He's sooo charming, and dashing, and silly, and soo creative. This guy is exploding with popularity. Almost every idol drama male lead is a rich guy. This drama follows the same exact idol formula, but there's some freshness to it because of the chemistry between the leads and the supporting characters. Well, here comes episode 1, enjoy while I still have that fire

This is the poor super saver, typical female protagonist, Shen Xing Ren who never buys clothes that are more than $300 ($9.82 USD), never watches movies, never goes KTV, and never takes taxis, etc. She's lives like a cave woman to save up enough money to buy a house for her mom and her. At work, she's the model worker who never complains about overtime, never fights back, and just does everything she's told to do.

Super Saver has earned her first $1,000,000 ($32724.70 USD). Woo~ I wonder when my first bucket of 1,000,000 will come? Super Saver is so thrilled, she starts printing out receipt after receipt after receipt to the point where a line starts forming behind her and a man yells at her, "That's an ATM, not a printer". kekekeke.

These days, everyone has an idol, even our Super Saver. Her idol is the fashion designer, Yu Cheng Feng. She won't spend money on clothes that cost more than $300 but she'll spend money to buy a magazine with his face on it. Such is the power of idols and marketing.

Dear Blue Motorcycle, you sure picked a great time to break down. And off, our Super Saver goes, zoom zoom zoom to work. She has only a few minutes before she's counted as late for work! At this rate, she could totally sign up for the marathon. Sure win!

Meanwhile, Super Saver's best friend, Liu Yu Le, tries to sneakily punch in Super Saver's time card. But she gets caught by the head of the Sales Department, who is also Super Saver's boss. Boss precedes to give her a lecture about work ethnics but Yu Le quickly yells,"Hot Chicks!", which makes the Boss turn his head. Yu Le snatches back the time card and runs into the hallway just in time to see Super Saver come running into the office.

With just 5 seconds remaining, Super Saver grabs the card, pushes past her boss, and TOUCHDOWN! Just in the nick of time. Super Saver grabs her best friend and play Ring Around the Rosie with Boss in the middle dancing to Saturday Night. Woooo!

At the airport, Qin Zi Qi aka Roy Qiu, just arrived from New York (woo!) and he... mistakenly gets in the car of some scary Japanese guys. He realizes he got in the wrong car when they start growling at him. So he does what anyone with sunglasses would do in this situation, pretend to be blind. *laugh laugh laugh*

Mr. Handsome finally gets in the right car and off they go to his father's mall where he thinks his father is passing the mall to him because you know he has an MBA from a NY university. Well, the lazy him, takes his time and sees a girl that catches his eyes. There's some CHOK-ing of the eyes before a green dinosaur randomly comes in and breaks off the contact. Mr. Handsome grabs one of the balloons from the dinosaur, scribbles his number on it, and tells the dino to pass the balloon to the lady in the background. Dino(Super Saver Shen Xing Ren), of course, refutes and an argument ensures.

Zi Qi: If one day I become the boss , you'll be the first one to be fired.
Shen Xing Ren: Boss? It's more likely than I'll be your boss. Psh, boss...
Zi Qi: I swear, if you become my boss, I'll wear that dino costume!

Zi Qi finally meets up with Dad in his office, thinking that Dad will be handing him the reins, but instead Dad hands him a contract. Tsk, tsk, tsk, it's hard to be a rich boy these day, handsome one. Dad wants him to work his way up starting as an office boy. Now not only is he starting on the lowest rung of the ladder, he's also going to be living in his own apartment, paying his own rent and utility bills, no maids or housekeepers to assist him. In other words, he just got kicked out of his house before even sticking a foot inside. If he could survive like this in this world for a world without Dad's help and not letting anyone know that he's Dad's son, then Dad will consider handing him the reins. Way to go, Dad!

Zi Qi gets assigned to the Sales Department where he meets Dino, whose no longer in disguise. They are SHOCKED to see each other. What a pleasant surprise. Boss, also called Manager Steven, assigns Super Saver Dino Lady Xin Ren to train the newbie. Oh, so now Super Saver Dino Lady is his boss. If I remember correctly, a few caps ago, he did say that if she ever becomes his boss, he'll wear the dino costume. mmmmmmmmmmm, karma's making you bite your own words

Super Saver Dino Lady takes on Dino head, places it on the desk, then stares at the newbie. Newbie stares back and asks, "So you are...". "Yes I am" "Then do I really have to... " "You have to" "I was joking" "I was serious" Hahaha! (Spoiler: He didn't wear the dino head until a couple of episodes later)

Zi Qi escapes to lunch before Shen Xing Ren could introduce his colleagues to him. She chases after him and scolds him for princely attitude and disobeying her orders. He coolly invites her to lunch to talk about whatever she needs to talk about, like how the company runs, what the sales department does, etc. He definitely forgot about his contract with Dad. Dad cut all his credit card so when time comes to pay the check, he's out of Money. Sucks to be him. Right now. Super Saver pays instead.

Super Saver and best friend make Zi Qi go to the ATM and return the cash immediately because procrastinating is the root of all evil. They are SHOCKED to learn that he only has $30000 in his account and he dares to eat at such an expensive place. Super Saver gives him a sound advice, "Cut down on your spending". (Celsius: Yes ma'am, Yes!)

OOO, a department meeting! Shen Xing Ren gets dragged to the meeting by her boss, Manager Steven. He needs her to talk for him at the meeting because he didn't do his homework, and made her do it for him. Bad Boy! At the meeting, Shen Xing Ren is encouraged by her boss to speak and she gives the suggestion to invite her idol, Yu Cheng Feng, and his clothing line to the mall. Everyone is SHOCKED. Because who doesn't know that Yu Cheng Feng refuses to put his clothing line at any mall, except for Xing Ren. Now that the suggestion is out, she is made to follow through with it. It's proposal time! No, not the marriage one.The business one. Since Xing Ren took on the get-Yu-Cheng-Feng-onboard mission, she has to somehow convince him to bring his line to the mall. She orders newbie to write up a proposal. He finishes and hands it to her. On the page that lists the benefits for the designer, he put "whatever you demand". Ha, nice! If I were the designer, I would totally sign that contract, and then make give me free first class airplane tickets to Taiwan! Woo hoo! Anyhoo, Xing Ren rejects the proposal and demands he write a more professional one. He say,"No" then she say, "Fine, I'll write it." You are better off being independent than dependent.

Zi Qi meets up with his friends at the rich boy bar where he happens to meet the pretty girl, Zheng Kai Er, from earlier this morning. She also happens to work at his dad's mall. She notices that he came in with his rich friends, and then he's wearing an expensive brand name watch. Knowing that she works for his Dad, and that he can't let her know that he's his Dad's son, he lies and tells her that the watch is a fake replica. And that he's extremely poor. She's smart, and casts suspicions on his lies. Sensing that she's catching onto him, he makes up an excuse and leaves.

I love his reaction upon arriving at his new home. Hehehehehe!

For the first time, he will have to unpack his belongings. He's SHOCKED! Hahaha! Oh by the way, Super Saver and her best friend lives at the top floor of the same building, right above his apartment. How convenient!

Zi Qi still doesn't get that his access to his father's money has been cut off. Refusing to stay in the old apartment, he spends the night at a 5 star hotel. Champagne and Jacuzzi. One night of comfort will result in many nights of hunger.

The next morning, Zi Qi is dead asleep and not to mention, late for work. Xing Ren calls him repeatedly until he finally picks up. That sleepy head~

Xing Ren comes by with her scooter pick to pick up the sleepy head. She hands him a strawberry helmet. Hehehe. They head off to Yu Cheng Feng's private fashion show. Except they can't get in because they don't have an invitation card. But when there's a will, there's a way.

Zi Qi spots a truck with flowers that being are delivered to the private fashion show. He drags Xing Ren to the truck and convinces her that the only way for them to get in is to help "deliver" the flowers inside the venue. Hahahaha, he's so convincing, even the upright Xing Ren goes along with his plan.

Once inside, Xing Ren gushes over her idol's fashion show while Zi Qi can't keep his eyes off the curvy models. They scold each other for not focusing on work. Hahahaha, two peas in a pod!

Fashion show is over, interview time. Xing Ren eagerly listens while Zi Qi looks on dejectedly . Guess he's not used to people gushing over someone that's not him.

The media, being the media, are more interested in the designer's private life more than his fashion show. This utterly upsets Xing Ren who decides to stand up for the designer and scolds the media for being gossipmongers. Yea! We want real news, not gossip! Seriously, the media is so skewed these days. This media world is owned by JUST six big corporations. SIX!

The designer was impressed by Xing Ren standing up for him at the press conference and at her attentiveness to his designs. He has his assistant invite them out for coffee. OoooO, a date with the designer~

I've finally walked out of my Autumn's Concerto depression. I still miss this drama but not like crazy anymore. It'll definitely still be a drama that I'll remember and treasure. It was the first drama that made me go totally crazy for it. I became a big fan of Ady and I started to pay more attention to Van Ness. Ding Dang also got my attention with her powerful voice that sung the theme song of Autumn's Concerto.

Yesterday was the second anniversary of the premiere of Autumn's Concerto. Happy Birthday, dear drama! (People must think I'm crazy for celebrating the birthday of a drama, hahaha) Thank you for everything!

Lives of Omission: The Three Alternate Endings

Lives of Omission producer Chuang Wai Kin had originally prepared 4 different endings for the series ranging from ‘extremely tragic’ to ‘happily ever after’ in the hopes of catering to audience’s tastes. In the end, the producer chose the ending in which Yiu Ho Ho [Kate Tsui] gets shot by Bai Co [Bosco Wong] but doesn’t die, Madam Jo [Fala Chen] falls to her death, and Laughing Gor [Michael Tse] goes to jail after killing Bai Co (So Sing Pak).

We all know how the series actually ended, but what about the other 3 endings that were filmed and not used? Below, screenwriter Lai Sin Yee reveals the content of the other 3 ‘alternate’ endings and the reasons why those endings were not chosen for the final cut.

Ending 1: Happily Ever After

Madam Jo is injured and goes into a coma. Laughing seeks Bai Co for revenge and flips a coin to determine whether he will kill Bai Co or not. The result of the coin toss is ‘heads’ and Laughing lets Bai Co go, thereby giving up on seeking revenge. ‘Good things happen to good people’, as Madam Jo awakes from her coma and she and Laughing get married.

Reason this ending was scrapped: Yiu Ho Ho already escapes death in the end; if both Madam Jo and Bai Co don’t die either, it will give the audiences the feeling that all of the main characters ‘escaped from calamity’.

Ending 2: Yiu Ho Ho dies

After Madam Jo falls to her death, Laughing discovers that Yiu Ho Ho didn’t die, so he kidnaps Ho Ho in order to force Bai Co to appear so he can seek revenge. Laughing shoots Bai Co, but Yiu Ho Ho takes the bullet for him and dies.

Reason this ending was scrapped: Didn’t want Laughing to become a ‘villain’ type character who has to resort to kidnapping a woman in order to seek revenge.

Ending 3: Ultimate undercover

Yiu Ho Ho has been using the roles of ‘lawyer’ and ‘girlfriend’ to get close to Bai Co. On the surface, she is helping him get to the top position of the triad organization and become its leader, but in reality, she is the ‘ultimate undercover’ agent sent by the police whose purpose is to gather incriminating evidence against Bai Co and the rest of the triad organization.

Reason this ending was scrapped: Too bold and imaginative, difficult to continue with the plot.

I'm glad they aired the actual ending because these other three are so flawed in their own ways. The first one is the oh-so-typical TVB happy ending. That ending would have squeezed the air out of the drama. No Good. The second ending has Laughing stealing Michael's job as the villain. Not too fond of it. The third one is just hilarious! It would really adhere to "UCs are everywhere".

The once perfect and complete group has now split into two parties and gone separate ways. Surprisingly, I feel sad. I really disliked this show in the beginning, but I continued watching for the sake of watching. I don't when but I started to look forward to this show. I think 98% is due to my anticipation of Xiao Jian and Qing Er's scenes. To me, they are the highlight of this new trilogy. Benji is cool too, except, you really have to spend some time accepting him. Today, Benji, Xiao Yan Zi, Xiao Jian, and Qing Er, have decided to continue their journey south to DaLi. The rest of the crew follow Emperor Qianlong back to the capital where Er Kang finally gets the Empress Dowager's permission to stick to Zi Wei like Super glue.

Unbeatable II 无懈可击之高手如林 Afterthoughts

The main storyline wavered between boring and exciting. It was very different from the first one. The first one was very modern, stylish, and thrilling! They had secrets that had to be uncovered through very dangerous means. They had to join together to beat this almighty international evil organization. The storyline of Unbeatable I was exciting! Unbeatable II, on the other hand, has a much toned down storyline. The almighty international evil organization is weaker than they were portrayed in Unbeatable I. And they don't do much in the second season besides providing financial support to their minions. Another reason why Unbeatable I was more captivating is the portrayal of office politics. In an all female environment. High EQ girl vs. High EQ girl. On the surface, they seem to be having a normal conversation but under the table, every line has a double meaning.

In terms of storyline, Unbeatable I wins. In terms of relationships, Unbeatable II wins. Why? Unbeatable I had Kelly with Huang Kai, Cherry with Zhuo Yuan, Sharon with Kevin. Of the three, my favorite is Sharon and Kevin. In Unbeatable II, there are Xu Ran with Qi Qi, Jiang Dong with Lu Fei, and Wei Xiao with Ye Rou. And my favorite is of course, Wei Xiao with Ye Rou. It happens that Ye Rou and Sharon are both played by the same actress, Stephy Qi Wei. Therefore, the real showdown is Kevin vs. Wei Xiao. And Wei Xiao wins by lots of miles! He's funny and he's not even trying to be funny. Also, I'd add that he has the best script lines. Who can forget "I don't use shampoo, I use soap"!

Wei Xiao and Ye Rou are the main reason why I continued watching this drama. Otherwise, I would have given up a long time ago. Their bickering takes bickering to a whole new level. I'm in the process of documenting all their interactions in the drama. What really breaks my heart with this couple is that their scenes are cut left and right, to the point, where their love storyline becomes very choppy. What a pity. They were such an powerful pairing! Whoever was doing the editing was quite ruthless towards this couple. I mean, the reason for all this editing is because they're going to have sequel that focuses on them, right? (cross fingers and hope) Their relationship is very fun to explore. An older woman who sees nightclubs as a second home paired up with a younger man whose mother once objected to his brother marrying a much older woman. The woman is a PR director of a large company turned PR director of a smaller company, while he is a civilian police turned superstar. Yepp, they definitely need a sequel.

I skipped most of Hu Ge scenes with Tang Yan. The problem is not with the actors but with the character, Tang Qi Qi. She seemed more like a third lead character that suddenly got the spotlight. Her character's only purpose was to be Xu Ran's love interest. What a waste of a good actress. This character was just too boring as in there were no qualities or personality traits that I come to admire. Her uselessness became apparent in the last episode. While everyone else was busy fighting the evil force, she spent the time pondering with her housemates on why Xu Ran broke up with her (in case you're wondering, he was trying to protect her). The reason why Xu Ran fell in love with this girl remains a mystery.

In the end, the biggest highlight of this drama is the Wei Xiao and Ye Rou pairing. The editors are biased! They showed the five year later part of Xu Ran, Qi Qi, and Lu Fei but they left out Wei Xiao and Ye Rou! Very very sad! They leave us Xiao Rou fans hanging. Time to head to the bar to read fan written sequels!

TVB’s Anniversary Awards were often regarded as the year-end report card for the company’s leading artists. The fight for TV King and TV Queen often grabbed the entire city’s attention. Unfortunately, the first half of 2011 did not yield any wildly popular series. Currently, Michael Tse’s (謝天華) Lives of Omission <潛行狙擊>was considered to be the front-runner. To make the battle for TV King more intense, TVB will be airing Men With No Shadows <不速之約> and Forensic Heroes 3<法證先鋒III>in September and October respectively, adding Wayne Lai (黎耀祥)and Raymond Lam (林峯) to the Best Actor race!

Over the past eight months, no particular TVB series garnered extremely popular ratings or word-of-mouth. Earlier regarded as one of 2011’s heavy-hitters, Raymond Lam and Charmaine Sheh’s (佘詩曼) My Sister of Eternal Flower <花花世界花家姐>generated only mediocre ratings and response. Yes Sir, Sorry Sir <點解阿Sir係阿Sir>also failed to boost Moses Chan’s (陳豪) popularity higher. Branded as “ungrateful in love,” Moses’ character in Yes Sir, No Sir dragged down his image. The remaining series Ghetto Justice <怒火街頭>and The Other Truth <真相>resulted in the audience’s favorable response towards Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎), Raymond Wong (黃浩然), and Ruco Chan (陳展鵬).

With the current broadcast of Lives of Omission in Hong Kong, Michael Tse was considered to be in the brightest spot. Allegedly, TVB did not want the TV King race to be one-sided. To increase the exciting atmosphere of the upcoming Anniversary Awards, TVB changed their strategy by adding Raymond Lam and Wayne Lai to the Best Actor battle. Due to the disappointing results of My Sister of Eternal Flower, this lowered Raymond Lam’s chances to win the TV King title. As a result, TVB decided to broadcast Men With No Shadows, which stars Raymond, Bobby Au Yeung (歐陽震華), and Tavia Yeung (楊怡) on September 12, 2011.

To his knowledge, in Lives of Omission’s first week of broadcast, the series’ website received 2.2 million hits. Michael hoped that the ratings would continue to improve.

The original cast has been obliterated in the casting and it's like a totally new storyline that's trying to ride on the tail of the Forensic Heroes story.

There's a saying that goes: one man's trash is another man's treasure. What's a good drama to me might not be a good drama to you. Every drama addict (and non addicts) have their own standards in judging the quality of a drama.

I tend to look heavily at storyline, acting, and chemistry among the cast. Those three elements are most important to me when deciding whether a drama is good or not. Ironically though, they are not the first elements that attract me to a drama but two of three (storyline and chemistry) are key factors that determine whether I will continue a drama. I can forgive bad acting...depending on how bad it is.

The Celsius Estimate Theorem

Sadly, the amount of time we use to watch dramas is precious and limited. We simply don't have the time to sit through every single drama. We have to use our time wisely and choose the good dramas to watch. I'm sure every drama addict has their own way of choosing good dramas to watch. If you don't have one yet, that's ok! You can use the Celsius Estimate. The Celsius Estimate works 90% of the time and it estimates if the test drama has potential to be a "good drama".

Method of Execution (Go in order):
1) Watch the first two episodes: If you enjoy the first two episodes, keep going. Otherwise, proceed to step 2.

2) Watch the last two episodes: If you enjoy the last two episodes, then consider watching backwards or start watching from a few episodes back. Otherwise, if you hate the beginning and the you hate the ending, you'll probably won't like the drama anyway so move on to the next drama.

3) Optional: For more accuracy, choose a random episode in between the first two and last two episodes.

This method is no guarantee. You might miss a good drama or the test drama turns out to be a bad drama despite an awesome beginning and an awesome ending. But nevertheless, it will give you some kind of solid ground to stand upon.

So use and adjust at your own risk!

Ghetto Justice Case Closed

How do people end up in jail and still be so happy? In fact, how do people end up in jail with the person who killed their friend and still be so happy? Only Law Ba, man, only the optimistic him.

Ghetto Justice's ending took a different route from regular TVB happy endings. It wasn't a random happy ending; it was a justified happy ending. PK killed Jing Jing and was sentenced 20 years for the crime. Wong See Fu forges evidence as part of her plan to land PK in jail but Law Ba claims responsibility for the forged evidence. Law Ba's lawyer license is revoked and he is sentenced to jail for 2 years. Although he is sentenced for a crime he didn't commit, he willingly goes as a form of repent for indirectly causing an innocent person's death 7 years ago. Wong See Fu realizes justice is more important than money and power and temporarily takes over Law Ba's "chamber". Maybe 7 years from now, See Fu will meet a long lost sister, who also happens to be a lawyer, but the sister does something wrong and See Fu takes responsibility for her just like Law Ba and willingly goes to jail as a form of repent for forging evidence. Justice is served even if it's late 7 years.

Ghetto Justice in its entirety is very good. The storyline, the acting, the chemistry, this show has it all. The cases were refreshing, intriguing, and not very long. The court dialogues, especially Law Ba's dialogues, were worth putting in my quote book! My most memorable dialogue was Law Ba's closing statement in the Accidental Death by Piece of Flying Glass case. What he said about accidents happening at any time, any where, to anyone was so full of persuasiveness. In terms of acting, Kevin nailed it! He nailed his role to the very core! I cannot imagine anyone else as a better Law Ba! Law Ba is Kevin's breakthrough role! And Sharon was also excellent as Jing Jing! I cried buckets when she died in Ah Dang's arm!!! And gosh, who can forget the chemical explosion between the four males (Law Ba, Ah Dang, Mike George, and But Jik). I loved the scene where Ah Dang took a video of Law Ba singing in the shower and Mike George secretly recording Law Ba's declaration of love. What awesome chemistry these four people have!

Overall, Justice Ghetto is a very good drama. It's number one on my list of TVB 2011 dramas followed by Only You. Kevin is on a roll here!

Unbeatable's storyline is not only well scripted but also well paced. The drama starts off with the main protagonist, Lu Xiao Xiao, or two smiling mouths as she calls herself, going to an interview at Logan, a PR company. Before she goes into the interview, she meet the handsome yet mysterious janitor who seems to know everything about everyone in the company. She later befriends him and enlists his help to find "God's Hand", the mysterious person who seems control her course of life. Entering Logan was also because of this mysterious person.

Xiao Xiao, inevitably, fails the interview because she has no experience. But through a twist of events, she becomes Logan's top Executive Creative Director with no experience to back her up. Luckily, with the help of Logan's Creative Director, Susan, she's able to smoothly face the media. She quickly becomes friends with Susan. Later, she meets her cousin, Kelly, who happens to also be a Creative Director at Logan.

Things aren't going smoothly for Xiao Xiao but mysterious "God's Hand" helps her through the crisis every time. His motives are questionable and his identity remains a mystery.

This is one of the few dramas where the voices are NOT DUBBED! It's sooo wonderful to listen to original voices. There's just so much more feel this way. And I must add, this drama is full of beautiful ladies and quite suave looking guys, especially Hu Bing! Wait, till he appears! Oh another plus for this drama are the songs! The ending theme song is a duet by Yuan Cheng and Stephy Qi, the one who plays Susan!
