Hebe Tien holds back tears at mention of Selina

The member of S.H.E fought back tears and reassured fans of fellow band mate, Selina Jen’s condition at the Singapore Hit Awards 2010

It was a particularly emotional night for Hebe Tien, one-third of Taiwanese Mandopop girl group, S.H.E, as she holds back tears and worries over Selina's health condition.

Dressed in a simple black dress adorned with tassels, the 27-year-old artiste who recently released her solo debut album declared that she felt "very honoured to be a member of S.H.E" onstage at the 16th Singapore Hit Awards 2010.

Thanking everyone for the support when she received S.H.E's Most Popular Group award, she reminisced about their early days and the hardships they underwent together. Tears started to form in her eyes at the mention of Selina, who was involved in a filming accident eight days ago.

"We have encountered hardships but we have walked through them, especially during this critical period. Selina, my fellow sister is now in the hospital. People grow from adversity and we will definitely walk through this."

Choked with emotion and tears, Hebe mentioned that Selina has lost her only protective barrier, which is her skin, and is in a "fragile state". Despite her burnt conditions, Hebe shared that Selina is still going strong and endearingly called her "my heroine" and "angel."

Selina suffered third degree burns on over 30% of her body and is still admitted in the hospital's intensive care unit.

Appearing more composed in a backstage interview with the media, Hebe revealed that Selina is now able to speak and take in small amounts of food.

She also commented that Selina is still in pain despite being on painkillers, "The surface areas of the burns are just too big. It's uncomfortable and she has to be consistently on painkillers. But the painkillers can't alleviate her suffering and I hope that everyone can support her."

Despite the pain and suffering, Hebe reassures that Selina is still very optimistic.

"Since the first day I saw her when the accident happened, she has been very optimistic. She also told us not to worry for her."

Talking about the various adversities encountered by her fellow band mates, Hebe says that Selina is fighting an obstacle now.

"There may be setbacks but we are not afraid. We will always have confidence to continue walking on."
Feeling particularly poignant at mention of Selina's current state, Hebe feels that this incident has taught her the importance of "living for the moment as accidents can happen anytime."

With her emotions still in a state of flux at the award ceremony, she confessed that it feels "rather complicated" when she has to go out for work assignments now.

The concerned singer said, "it's as if I left my heart in Taipei" and has plans to call home immediately after the award ceremony to check on Selina's condition.

Tomorrow is Selina's birthday

A Sigh of Relief

Wooo! Today, I got up in front of my class and delivered a mini math lesson on probability word problems! I have to say it was very scary to be up there and see 20 pairs of eyes looking back at you. It was even more nerve wrecking that one hour before it started but it went quite well with plenty of room for improvement. Basically what I did was give out two word problems, both of which were fairly difficult but doable. We did one problem together as a class and the other one I had them do in groups. Here were the two problems, try and see if you can solve them.

Problem 1: The Loaded Revolver

Henry has been caught stealing cattle, and is brought into town for justice. The judge is his ex-wife Gretchen, who wants to show him some sympathy, but the law clearly calls for two shots to be taken at Henry from close range. To make things a little better for Henry, Gretchen tells him she will place two bullets into a six-chambered revolver in successive order. She will spin the chamber, close it, and take one shot. If Henry is still alive, she will then either take another shot, or spin the chamber again before shooting.

Henry is a bit incredulous that his own ex-wife would carry out the punishment, and a bit sad that she was always such a rule follower. He steels himself as Gretchen loads the chambers, spins the revolver, and pulls the trigger. Whew! It was blank. Then Gretchen asks, "Do you want me to pull the trigger again, or should I spin the chamber a second time before pulling the trigger?" What should Henry choose?

Problem 2: The Monty Hall Paradox

Imagine that the set of Monty Hall's game show Let's Make a Deal has three closed doors. Behind one of these doors is a car; behind the other two are goats. The contestant does not know where the car is, but Monty Hall does.

The contestant picks a door and Monty opens one of the remaining doors, one he knows doesn't hide the car. If the contestant has already chosen the correct door, Monty is equally likely to open either of the two remaining doors.

After Monty has shown a goat behind the door that he opens, the contestant is always given the option to switch doors. Would the contestant get a better deal if she switch or does switching not matter?

Drama Progress Report #n

Just in case, you're wondering what show I'm watching now since I'm too lazy to update that on the sidebar, I'll put them in this post

Hong Kong Dramas

1) The Comeback Clan: This is the typical filler comic family drama. It ended a few days ago and the ending was hahaha very funny! I think they put this drama out to get us ready for the next big drama that's coming out, Rosy Business Part 2!!!! Ta Da! It's the same theory as getting a drink of water before watching a scary movie. Giving the audience something easy and fun to watch before getting serious!

2) Every Move You Make: When this show first came out, I was really iffy on it especially after I saw the cast. I'd pass Bosco, Amy, and Bowie. But then I watched the first episode and thought, "Wow, this is pretty good show". My image of Bosco has improved greatly due to this show... because he's a pen spinner, a really amazing one too! I can only do the thumbaround and the reverse thumbaround! Anyways, this show focuses on using body language readings to solve cases. Some of the things they point out are really interesting. For example, if you're talking to someone, and your feet is pointing towards another direction, that means you want to leave, you want to get out of the conversation. Pretty cool drama even though it's said that they plagiarized the American drama, Lie to Me. I give them credit for making me interested. (By the way, Amy's acting is not convincing here)

Taiwan Dramas

1) Volleyball Lover: OH MY GOODNESS! This is such a great show cuz it has volleyball in it! That's something new! The storyline is pretty hilarious but they are starting to drag and cut the show now which is pretty sad. I hope they could air the whole episode without cutting all the "unnecessary" parts. And I think Godfrey needs to get a haircut or at least stop gelling his hair backwards cuz he looks really weird like that. It took a while to get used to his new hair style.

2) Zhong Wu Yan: Very disappointed in this show. I dislike Mingdao's character. Cheryl is not bad but the story is not very interesting. It's very slow. The only reason why I'm still watching is because of Chris Wu's story line. What, you don't know Chris Wu? Oh my god, stop kidding! He's Flower boy from Autumn's Concerto! He outshines everyone in this drama as the blind CEO of this big company. I want him to end up with Cheryl's character.

3) Endless Love: Oddly, this kinda reminded me of Autumn's Concerto. Maybe because Wilbur's past is similar to Mu Cheng's past. And the 3 years later Wilbur is even colder than the 6 years later Mu Cheng and Guangxi. Not a bad show at all despite its poor ratings. It has a very interesting red string of fate theory that ties into the story very nicely. It's said that an invisible red string connects two people who are fated to be together.

Korean Drama

1) My Girlfriend is a Gumiho:
If you haven't watched this drama, then you don't know what you're missing out on!!! This is a MUST WATCH! Repeat, MUST WATCH! It's definitely one of the best and funniest drama I've ever watched! Oh, and I must say the computer graphics are really awesome, you'll agree with me once you see her tails~

Joe Chen to Play Princess Iron Fan in 3D "Havoc in Heaven"

Joe Chen (Qiao En) established herself as one of the top idol drama actresses with hits like “Fated to Love You”. She will try to do the same in feature films by taking on the role of Princess Iron Fan in the 3D extravaganza “大鬧天宮 ('The Monkey King'/'Havoc in Heaven')”. The movie features A-list stars from Hong Kong including Chow Yun Fat as the Jade Emperor and Donnie Yen as the Monkey King. Aaron Kwok will play Joe Chen's husband, the Buffalo Demon King.

Unlike past images of his character, Aaron Kwok's Demon King promises to be easy on the eyes. In the new movie, he will sacrifice anything for his wife's return to heaven. He even collaborates with the Monkey King to wreak havoc in the process. In the end, the Jade Emperor leads his gods and goddesses in the battle against demons.

Joe Chen is excited to be working with the industry’s A-listers again after completing a John Woo-produced film earlier this year. The actress will rest for two weeks to ensure that she goes into filming under her best condition. At 46 kg, she is concerned that her face will look bigger than her on-screen husband Aaron Kwok, so she hopes to slim down to 43 kg for her role.

In the story, Joe Chen will be pregnant with the destructive Red Boy for 300 years. She laughed, “Carrying a baby for 300 years, (my character) probably doesn’t get bothered by pregnancy anymore.” She will work with Chow Yun Fat again in the their next movie “Breakup Experts”. Peter Ho also stars in "Havoc" as the character Erlang Shen. He is thrilled to be working with Chow Yun Fat and said the role was the best gift he got for his birthday last week.

Whoa~ Monkey King in 3D...that's crazyyy! Aaron Kwok's poster...um...you can't see his face...I hope it's not like that in the movie...or else, it'll be quite pointless to cast him w/o showing his face! but whoa, such a star studded cast!

Fahrenheit become train conductors, taking fans on a tour

@ CpopAccess.com

Taiwan Tourism spokesmen, Fahrenheit, became train conductors to lead a 9 hour tour of Hualien, Taiwan for nearly 1,200 overseas fans from fifteen different countries. When they arrived, early in the morning, at the Taipei train station, they were chased by fans and caused chaos on the platform. Even after the train started pulling away, the fans who were not on the tour continued to pound like crazy on the glass. Eighty percent of those fans chose to follow the special tour. Only 500 seats were originally planned for the tour, but another train had to be arranged due to the popularity. Though it wasn't as impressive as the 5000 fans F4 attracted back in 2007, with the actual tour earning NT$44,000,000 (~USD$1,400,000,) not including the money paid by fans who followed the tour and other spending, Fahrenheit brought in a lot of profit for Taiwan tourism -- confirming it was the right choice for them to be spokesmen.

Fahrenheit had just arrived back from Mainland China the day before and all four appeared to be completely exhausted. However, despite Calvin having a cold and Wu Chun having a sore throat the entire time, as soon as they got to the train and saw their fans, they immediately regained their energy. They started off by making a broadcast in the various languages of the fans, and then went around collecting tickets and playing games. The fans were extremely happy. When Fahrenheit was asked about whether they were afraid of causing a riot on the train, Calvin joked, "It's a good thing it was ticket inspections and not body inspections."

They also provided lunch boxes for the fans on the train and Wu Chun was made fun of, for coming just for the lunch. He said, "I think Taiwan's lunch boxes are famous worldwide. When (you) come to Taiwan, (you) must have a lunch box". The Hualien locals enthusiastically invited Fahrenheit to try pounding mochi as they were walking around. In the evening, they all danced the bamboo dance together. The four members were in complete confusion, calling out, "Knowing how to dance doesn't mean you can dance the bamboo dance."

HAHAHAHHAAA! Calvin's right! Chun came aboard just for the lunchboxes! Hahahahahaaa! When I go to Taiwan with Kiwi, we will definitely get some Taiwan lunchboxes because it's recommended by the food king, Wu Chun!

You Xuan - I Am

I like this.

It's one of the insert song of Volleyball Lover, which all fans of Taiwan Drama should watch!

Because first, it centers loosely around a sport, volleyball, that isn't so male oriented *ahem* basketball *ahem*. I know people like basketball and stuff but not every Taiwan sporty Drama needs to revolve around basketball (Hot Shot, Bull Fighting, etc.). Finally, someone decides to come up with volleyball. I'm still waiting for badminton tho. =)

And second, Godfrey Gao is in it! Who in the taiwan entertainment world does not know Godfrey Gao? He's another hot flame! Hahahahaa! Although, at times, his acting can make you cringe, he's good eye candy~ hahaha. And well, if you're not into him, you could also go for the female lead, Annie Chen! Her acting is pretty good, she improves as the series progresses. She's also good eye candy.
