Details for the construction of a memorial park to commemorate popular and influential late Taiwanese singer Teresa Tang has been finalized. The park will be located about 6km away from her shrine, estimated to be completed in August 2011.
The themed memorial park with an outdoor display area will be on 2.6 hectares of land in the city area near Jinshan Old Street.
Tang's stage costumes, albums and everyday items will be displayed in the museum while the outdoor space will be used for cultural performances.
Besides Taiwanese visitors, Chinese tourists also come to pay homage at the late singer's shrine.
Ironically, though her songs were popular in China, Tang has never been in China. News of her death from an asthma attack in 1995 was probably the first news about her in Chinese media.
According to reports, China had previously invited Tang to Beijing to stage a performance but was later called off because she was suspected to be a special agent of Kuomintang.
